Welcome

I’d like to take a moment to welcome a great friend of mine to the wonderful world of blogging.

What can I say, Larry Grays is an incredible guy! He’s a pastor/church planter in ATL, a youth speaker, evangelist, a good friend and he mercilessly picks on my wife (which is always fun to watch). And…as you can see from his post, it looks like he’s going to be a dad for the third time.

Welcome to the three-kids club Larry. It takes a bit of training to move from man-to-man defense with the kids to zone defense but I have no doubt you’ll pass with flying colors!

Quote of the Day

Okay, here’s another one. These just seem to keep on coming!

The other day I was sitting at the kitchen table with Jake. We were talking about God, Jesus, the Bible and all sorts of theology. It was a blast. We were discussing heaven and he asked, “Is heaven way far away in the sky?” I said, “Yes, Jake, heaven is very far away. And who is in heaven?” He said, “God…and Jesus…” “That’s right Jake!” I said, “and who else is in heaven?”

He asks me, “Is Alan Jackson in heaven too?”

Okay, a little background here. There’s a CD that we’ve been listening to in Stephanie’s car for years now it seems. It’s the Alan Jackson CD that has all sorts of hymns on it. Whenever Judd was really fussy in the car, we would turn it to, “Are You Washed in the Blood” and “I’ll Fly Away.” Judd would quiet down…and he still LOVES it. Now, Jake sings along. I guess because Alan Jackson sings about heaven, Jake thought he was already there. Pretty funny!

Quote of the Day

I was just sitting here playing on the computer with Jake and here’s what he asked me:

“Are you old Daddy? Are you old like Papa Benny?”

Papa Benny is Stephanie’s step-dad and he visited us for a little while with Ms. Dawn right after Anna Kate was born. I’m sure that Benny must have said something to Jake about being old while he was here and that’s where Jake came up with the question. Still, it’s hilarious isn’t it!?!?

I Love What I Do!

I can’t imagine what it must be like to hate your job. I’ve known lots of people who went to work every week just for the paycheck…nothing more. They’re not doing something they love or something they’re passionate about. That must be tough!

I am so blessed because I love what I do! I get to do the second most important job in the world (to me, Stephanie has the most important and most difficult job on the face of the earth- managing our home and our children while I’m at work). I love being a pastor. Since I was 16 years old there’s nothing else that I’ve ever imagined doing. It’s such an honor and privilege to lead the people of God in His church.

And I love my church as well. In case you didn’t know, you cant find out why right here. I am so thankful God has brought us here to lead, love and shepherd the flock of God. It’s an incredible honor and privilege to pastor such loving people and I’m always encouraged by the incredible potential I see here at Crosspointe. God has awesome plans for our church and I’m just thankful to be a small part of it.

In good times, hard times, fun times, sad times, up times and down times…I LOVE what I do! How great is that!?!?!

Quick but Good

My best friend in the whole world, Jim Cleghorn, was able to be with us Sunday night and Monday morning for a quick visit. We were so glad to have him up. Stephanie posted a picture of him with the kids and you can view it here. Not a bad picture and a cute bunch of kids if I do say so myself!

Stephanie’s mom her Step-Dad, Benny, came up right after Anna Kate was born. And my mom came up a just after they left. It was great to see everyone but it seems like we were “all alone” a lot quicker with this one than we were with either of the boys.

The good news is this; Stephanie stayed home by herself all day yesterday with three kids ages three and under and she said it was a “good day.” That’s incredible!!!
