It’s been 19 years…

Today marks the day that I surrendered my life to Christ. On March 15, 1989, at Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins, GA, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I can remember the day and the moment just like it was yesterday. There’s no doubt about it, that day changed my direction in this life and for all eternity!

Something else I remember vividly is a conversation I had with my mom. It was March 15th, about 10 or 11 years ago and I walked into the kitchen to remind my mom that it was my “birthday.” She looked at me and said, “I know honey, how much have you grown since last year?” I looked at her and made some silly joke like, “about an inch or two” and turned and walked away.

This day is a time for me to take spiritual stock of my life. I’m older physically with each year that goes by, but I also age in my relationship to Christ. As I’m aging, I hope that I’m also maturing. This is the mark of a true disciple!

How much have you grown since last year?

Let it snow…

Well, there was no White Christmas in Brighton this year, but it looks like we could have a White Easter (not really but close). I guess it has snowed a few inches here this afternoon and evening. How about that…it’s March and it’s snowing. Here are a couple of pictures for your enjoyment.

Here’s a picture of me and the boys just outside the front porch. If you notice Jake’s face, the wind was blowing extremely hard and it felt more like a blizzard!

I thought this one would give you a good view of the front yard and a bit of the neighborhood. I know it’s just a few feet, but that walk across the front yard in a blinding blizzard seemed like a trek to the top of Mt. Everest (a little exaggeration here certainly intended).

Is it March already?

My how time flies! It seemed like 2008 just rolled around this morning. It’s hard to believe that it’s March already. Don’t get me wrong, I love the month of March. Spring pushes winter off the calendar, Stephanie has a birthday and I have a spiritual birthday as well (it will be 19 years this month since I accepted Christ).

But, with March rapidly approaching that means April is just around the corner. And when April comes, so does a new baby! We’ve been through this a couple of times already so we know that the fun really begins once the baby arrives. The truth is though, we’ve never been through this when we already had two other children to take care of as well.

We are so excited about our baby girl on the way. Truth be told, at times I’m a bit nervous. I know it will be busy and it will be a big adjustment, but it will be more than worth it. And, by the way, Stephanie is an INCREDIBLE mom and she’ll have this “three-kid” thing down in no time. As long as I do what she says, we’ll be doing just fine.

So, here’s to another month that’s come and gone (February), and another year that is flying by (2008) and another baby on the way (no name baby girl). Life is sweet!

Three years old…

Wow! It’s hard to believe it, but yesterday, Jake turned three years old. My how time flies! I was amused by some of his questions; included here for your entertainment and amusement:

First, “Daddy, now that I’m three do you still tell me what to do?” He was really interested to find out if we never going to discipline him again!

Second, “Am I big like you and mommy now?” We’ve been telling him that he’s such a big boy so now I guess he thinks he’s grown up!

Third, and probably the funniest, “When do I get to be 2 again?” He had to move from the crib into his “big boy” bed yesterday. We’ve been building this up for a while because he loved his crib! So, I think he was wondering if there was ever a time where he got to move back into the crib.

Funny kids! I love it.
