OK, I have to admit that I’m not a huge TV junkie. In fact, with a wife, three kids, a dog, a cat and a fish, I don’t have much time to remember that we have a TV. Oh yeah, I work a full week too (yes, pastors work more than Sunday and Wednesday).
There are, however, a couple of shows that Stephanie and I really enjoy. Our all-time favorite show is CBS’s “The Unit.” LOVE this show. It’s actually one of the only pro-military dramas I’ve seen on TV. But, I hear that “The Unit” is possibly biting the dust soon. That stinks.
So, what are your favorite TV shows? Is there anything on TV that’s worth watching these days?
Here’s a list of our favorites:
1. Anything sports
2. The Unit
4. Lie to Me
5. That’s right, really only three shows
Man! I am COUNTING THE DAYS until College Football starts; I can’t wait!
Stephanie says she can wait a little while longer because she actually enjoys me being somewhat productive on Saturdays and also football season means that cooler weather is coming. For her, cooler weather is a curse; it means that mommy has to stay inside all day with three small, wild, energetic children.
But, I am pumped about this season. I saw last week where the Dawgs are pre-season #1 in several polls. Awesome! I just hope we end up #1 at the END of the season! Starting well is important, but finishing well is vital. I’m pretty sure there’s a spiritual application here as well. I tell you what, I want to finish well!
I’m not a conspiracy theorist or one of those guys who pushes for a playoff system in College Football. I’m somewhat of a purist when it comes to the bowls, the rules and the “feel” of football at the college level. To me, the game of College Football is the best sport on the planet.
That being said, I am somewhat disappointed in how UGA ended up in the Sugar Bowl. Ranked #4 one week, then the #1 and #2 teams lose and you think you’d be somewhere near the top. Instead, pushed back to #5. All of that to say…believe it or not, I’m okay with this. Sometimes the polls go your way and sometimes they don’t.
Here’s my hope. I hope we play well and beat Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl. They are a GREAT team with a powerful passing attack and a strong offense. And, I hope we do better next year. We’re a young team with some growing to do and I believe we can be a better team next season if we put our minds to it!
This link describes a UGA fan’s ultimate dream. UGA in the National Championship this season!
While I will admit to being a rabid fan, I must say that this is certainly a stretch…however still a possibility. It’s also possible that I could find a winning lottery ticket in the parking lot at Wal-Mart and hit the jackpot…but not likely!
Anyway, a fan can dream!
I love College Football! There’s really nothing esle in the world quite like it. After the Oregon and Oklahoma losses we should be up to at least 7 in the BCS this week. Great job by Mark Richt and the whole team in salvaging what could have been a really bad season (after losing to South Carolina and Tennessee). I wonder sometimes what the season would be like if we had beaten SC. I’ll give up the TN game because they crushed us! But, that’s the way college football is and that’s the way this season has been.
All of this to say…I’m happy where we are right now. I believe we’re in the driver’s seat and if we just keep winning ball games we’ll find ourselves in a BCS game. SEC Championship or not, a good year. Overall, an excellent season. Room for improvement? Absolutely! And there’s always next year.
